About this winery

Château Gazin Rocquencourt is recognized as being one of the oldest wine estates in the commune of Léognan; its vineyard can be traced back to 1468. The house dates from 1660 and is still inhabited today. Historic property in Pessac-Léognan, it was noted in the guides Féret guide in 1874 for the quality of its wines and its terroir, situated on a superb gravelly hilltop in Léognan.

Production notes

Manuel harvest. Vinification in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Ageing in traditional oak barrels, 40% new oak. Ageing for a period of 15 months.

Tasting notes

Dark red colour with beautiful glints of black. The nose offers good complexity with fresh fruit and an elegant woodiness. Good intensity. On the palate, the attack is lively. The wine develops plenty of volume in the mouth and a delightful smoothness, with very pleasant aromas of red fruit and notes of mocha and dark chocolate. There is a fine overall complexity and intensity, supported by an elegant tannin structure. This superb balance is accompanied by a long, flavourful finish.
