About this winery

Château Gazin Rocquencourt is recognized as being one of the oldest wine estates in the commune of Léognan; its vineyard can be traced back to 1468. The house dates from 1660 and is still inhabited today. Production notes

Handpicking harvest. Sustainable farming and High Value Environmental certification. Vinification in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Fermentation at 28 to 30°C for about 30 days. Ageing in traditional French oak barrels, 50 % new oak for 15 months.

Tasting notes

A lot of substance and balance in both polyphenolic and aromatic terms. Long and slow ripening has refined the tannins and developed complexity in the flavours and aromas, while maintaining plenty of freshness. Superb.

James Molesworth, April 2017 (Vintage 2016)

James Molesworth - Wine Spectator - April 2017 90 - 93 Sappy kirsch and cherry cobbler notes form the core in this mouthfilling version, with licorice and roasted apple wood accents in the background. Stays pretty bright overall
