About this winery

The story begins at Château Paul Mas in Conas hamlet, in the splendid town of Pézenas, the city of famous playwright Molière. The estates then expanded to Montagnac, with Nicole vineyard and Mas des Tannes. Jean-Claude Mas’s great-grandfather, Auguste Mas, bought the first family vineyard in 1892, when he aquired 9 ha (22 acres) of vines in the Mas de Bicq, near the village of St Pons de Mauschiens. In 1934, Raymond Mas brings the family vineyard to a surface of 15 ha in Domaine Montredon...

Product notes

The vineyard is anchored in the terroir of Corbières, located between the city of Carcassonne and Narbonne. In 2015, Jean-Claude Mas acquired it. Completely renovated, the cellar of the estate can now receive all the harvest in optimal condition for a careful vinification. Oriented East / West, the 80 hectares of vines of about twenty years old benefit from a clay-limestone and silty clay soil.

Production notes

Separate vinification for each grape variety. In the case of Carignan, after selective sorting, the intact grapes are placed in vats and subjected to carbonic maceration. Grenache and Syrah ferment for 5 days under controlled temperature, followed by a maceration of 3 weeks. After the malolactic fermentation we assemble the wines. 30% of the wine is then aged in American and French oak barrels for 6 months.

Tasting notes

Deep purple colour. Aromas of raspberry and savoury flavours of herbs and black olives. Full-bodied wine with velvety tannins and beautiful length.
