Production notes

Hand harvested in boxes. After a second screening on the optical selection table, alcoholic fermentation (at 27ºC) and malolactic fermentation are carried out naturally. Best lots aged for three years in barrels, American oak and made in-house, with an average age of 4.5 years. Six traditional rackings were carried out from barrel to barrel by candlelight, to manually separate the sediment and avoid aggressive filtering.

Tasting notes

Elegant ruby colour. Complex array of balsam notes, brioche, toasted bread, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon, black plums, wild strawberries, ripe blackcurrants and red berries, creating a fruity and balsamic bouquet. On the palate, the wine is well structured and balanced, with a pleasant freshness and smooth, polished tannins, thanks to its careful ageing in oak barrels. The finish is fresh and delicate, with a lingering aftertaste.

January 2021 (Vintage 2014)

Viña Arana Gran Reserva

Lots of mushroom and walnut aromas with plum and leather, too. It’s full-bodied, but very soft and creamy-textured with lots of old wood, mushroom and ripe fruit on the finish. Some chocolate and hazelnut. Complex and gorgeous. Drink or hold.

Aromas of dark plum, raspberry, mocha, mushroom, chocolate, mocha, coconut and cigar box. Full-bodied with ripe, fine tannins and bright acidity. Balanced and supple with a velvety texture. Coffee notes on the long, succulent finish. 95% tempranillo and 5% graciano. Drink or hold.
