About this winery
Man Vintners Family Wines was named after the three founders’ wives; Marie, Annette & Nicky. As young winemakers back in 2001, Tyrrel Myburgh, Philip Myburgh (Joostenberg Wines family winery) and Jose Conde (Stark-Condé Wines) weren’t looking for rockstar bottles that cost a fortune. Product notes
Warrelwind Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown on higher, cooler vineyards located in the Cape Coast. Warrelwind, or whirlwinds, are a common occurrence in the vineyards during the summer. These seasonal winds cool the grapes that are primarily from the Agter-Paarl and Stellenbosch regions, blended with a cooler climate component from Elgin.
Production notes
Harvesting takes place over several weeks, as specific Sauvignon Blanc vineyard blocks are harvested at different ripeness levels to ensure an optimum range of flavours. Reductive winemaking (minimal air I oxygen contact) preserves freshness and fruitiness, while 3 months maturation on the lees gives additional complexity and integration. The wine was fined and filtered before bottling.
Tasting notes
Pale lemon, light green tinge. Bouquet of tropical fruit. Passionfruit, pineapple, and ripe tropical flavours palate. Crisp, well-integrated acidity is balanced by richness from the touch of Semillon used in blending, resulting in a well-rounded and creamy mouthfeel. Refreshing herbaceous flavours are gently tempered by bright tropical fruits.
