About this winery

Château Gazin Rocquencourt is recognized as being one of the oldest wine estates in the commune of Léognan; its vineyard can be traced back to 1468. The house dates from 1660 and is still inhabited today. Historic property in Pessac-Léognan, it was noted in the guides Féret guide in 1874 for the quality of its wines and its terroir, situated on a superb gravelly hilltop in Léognan.

Production notes

Handpicking harvest. Sustainable farming and High Value Environmental certification. Slow pressing, cold stabilization and fermentation in barrels (20-22°C). Ageing on lees in traditional French oak barrels. 30% new oak. Ageing period of 10 months.

Tasting notes

2018 was a very hot year, but it had little impact on the aromatic profile of the whites. Their balance is superb and they show great freshness and elegance.

“Un pur sauvignon expressif, sans forfanterie aromatique, articulé et sobre dans son développement, avec un fruit appliqué, de bonne intensité.” La Revue du Vin de France – Mai 2021
