About this winery
The story begins at Château Paul Mas in Conas hamlet, in the splendid town of Pézenas, the city of famous playwright Molière. The estates then expanded to Montagnac, with Nicole vineyard and Mas des Tannes. Jean-Claude Mas’s great-grandfather, Auguste Mas, bought the first family vineyard in 1892, when he aquired 9 ha (22 acres) of vines in the Mas de Bicq, near the village of St Pons de Mauschiens. Product notes
Claude Val wines are made from grapes selected from different terroirs of the Languedoc: Limoux, Carcassonne/Puichéric (Minervois), and Pézenas.
Production notes
Clay and limestone soil. Destemming. Each grape is vinified separately. Pneumatic press, only free-run juice and first press juice are used for this rosé. Fermentation for 2 weeks at 17°C. Ageing on its fine lees with regular stirring for 40 days in new coated cement vats.
Tasting notes
Light salmon pink colour. Fruity notes evolving towards quince and liquorice. Generous and round palate, with black cherry aromas and a touch of lime zest. Lovely, fruity and fresh finish.
