About this winery
The history of Marchesi Mazzei is the story of Tuscany, uniting the family and famous region since the 11th century. The winery’s roots in the territory span over 600 years and continue to expand through wineries and vineyards, including Castello di Fonterutoli in the heart of Chianti Classico, Belgvardo in Maremma (Tuscany) and Zisola in Noto (Sicily). Product notes
Born from the marriage of Sangiovese and Syrah, it is vinified in contact with the skins for a few hours.
Production notes
Mainly sandstone and limestone soils. Age vineyards: 17 years. Hand picked harvest. Fermentation at low temperature (14-16°C). Maceration of the skins for 1 hour (Syrah), 2 hours (Sangiovese). Ageing for 3 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting notes
Intense and fresh, cherry flower flavors, smooth, mineral, and pleasantly lasting taste. Serve with appetizers, tomato-based pasta, pizza, steamed fish and vegetables, cold cuts, and cheese.
