The history of Marchesi Mazzei is the story of Tuscany, uniting the family and famous region since the 11th century. The winery’s roots in the territory span over 600 years and continue to expand through wineries and vineyards, including Castello di Fonterutoli in the heart of Chianti Classico, Belgvardo in Maremma (Tuscany) and Zisola in Noto (Sicily). Product notes
Concerto was born in 1981, as an effect of a viticulture with an unexpressed potential, experimenting new training systems and new blends, including also non-autochthonous varietals; it was one of the forerunners and one of the top 10 players of the Super Tuscans phenomenon.
Production notes
Rocky soil coming from decomposed limestone and sandstone. Spur cordon-training and Guyot training system. Fermentation temperature to 26-28° C. Period of maceration of 14-18 days. Ageing for 18 months in small French oak barrels in tonneaux (Sangiovese) and barrels (Cabernet Sauvignon). 4 months finissage in concrete tanks.
