Product notes

Clay-limestone soil. This capricious variety (prone to coulure, or poor flower fertilization, which can ruin the crop) nearly vanished. By the late 19th century, it found its ideal home in Chile. In 2016, it was reintroduced to its birthplace. The 2023 vintage in the Bordeaux region featured a rainy spring and a late summer. Thanks to the team’s great vigilance, the vineyard was protected from downy mildew pressure. From mid-August, the first heatwaves arrived, accelerating ripeness in September with cool nights. Cabernet Sauvignon quality proved exceptional.

Production notes

Carménère was harvested in mid-October, rather late. The grapes showed excellent quality and underwent meticulous selection, gentle crushing, and placement in tanks for fermentation. Daily punch-downs and pump-overs extracted the finest phenolic and aromatic compounds. The wine then aged for 13 months in new French oak barrels.

Tasting notes

The Carménère delivers silky tannins, elegant structure, and exceptional aromatic depth. The wine expresses a spicy nose with intense Mediterranean notes. 8 years aging potential.
